A successful debut outing for the Legends. Some shockingly good Sunday morning hockey saw us beat the Eds 3-0 and the French 3-1, and put to bed the miserable 1-0 defeat by the Big Fellas on Saturday evening. This resulted in us winning our group (thus ensuring local bragging rights ahead of Wanderers and Eds) and a semifinal place. Unfortunately the opposition (Cardiff Uni) in the semi hadn't read the script and beat us 2-1 - and not once was offensive language used against the Welsh (missed opportunity there).
Some notable guest appearances over the weekend with Snake Morris and a tumbling (goal scoring) Rich Metzgen along with a very quiet (vocally) Dan Clieff, and off course the real stars, the Bobby Charltons. Chris Brewster is still on his way to the pitch. And of course, the numbers of wives and children prepared to venture to Fortress Battersea to support as well as provide that pink ticket for the weekend.
Excellent kit, perfectly shaped for Dubde, so big thanks to Mayes. Baz starts the next outing on some sort of penalty for providing the most inappropriate drinking homage of the Squeaker and is charged with finding something more befitting.
