London Wayfarers Hockey Club Have partnered with the new and exciting Hockey Futures charity which launched just ahead of the Women’s Hockey World Cup 2018 in London.
After a trial period during the 2017-18 season London Wayfarers are expanding our local community outreach programme in 2018 bringing hockey to more schools in south west London. We are proud to be the first partner club of Hockey Futures adding to two great partnerships we have with Surrey Hockey Association and England Hockey. Together with our coaches and volunteers this puts us in a great position to engage with our local community offering hockey to more children. This initiative fulfils several of our ambitions highlighted in our Club Strategy.
- Engaging with our community
- Creating opportunities for children to participate
- Growing and promoting our sport
- Working together with partners for the good of our sport
The charity’s mission is to Empower Young People Through Hockey targeting disadvantaged inner city communities where young people don’t currently get the opportunity to play hockey.
As the first partner club we believe that by working together we can make a difference to young people’s lives and encourage other hockey clubs and communities to get involved. For more information on how you can get involved please visit the Hockey Futures website.
Helen Richardson-Walsh is the charity’s ambassador and explains why she was so keen to get involved.
