Flyerz Hockey is the name for disability inclusive hockey across the UK. It concentrates on having fun, learning new skills, making friends and promotes an active and healthy lifestyle.

In partnership with Access Sport, London Wayfarers Hockey Club started a new programme in early September 2020 that provides hockey sessions for people with pan-disabilities and involves a variety of activities, exercise and most importantly fun. There is absolutely no hockey experience needed, all you need to bring is enthusiasm.

What is Flyerz Hockey

Flyerz Hockey started in 2012 alongside London hosting the Paralympics. The provision of Flyerz Hockey is supported by Access Sport and England Hockey.

Here is some more background information in two videos:

How to get involved

We are running the midweek London Wayfarers Flyerz sessions every week throughout the school year (September to July).

From September 2021 we are doubling our weekly activity again, we now run four sessions per week.

5.45 – 6.45pm for 16 and under
6.45 – 7.45pm for 16+

Thursdays (except October half term) at Emanuel School

6 – 7pm for 16 and under
7 – 8pm for 16+

Both venues are privates pitches with great access.

St Francis Xavier 6th Form College (SFX), 10 Malwood Road, Clapham South, SW12 8EN.
Clapham South tube station is nearby and there is parking available next to the pitch.

Emanuel School, Battersea Rise, Battersea, SW11 1HS
Parking available on site.

Due to the closure of the Bank of England Sports Centre we have discontinued the fortnightly sessions at this venue.

There is absolutely no hockey experience needed and we welcome anyone to come along, get to know us and have some fun. If you are interested in joining or would like more information about our sessions please email [email protected] or alternatively go to How to Join Flyerz Hockey and register today!

We are providing taster sessions for players to try hockey which will involve one on one coaching and an opportunity to meet new people. We provide all the equipment and anyone is welcome from the age of 8. However, if you are a little younger, contact us, and we will do our best to get you involved as we are looking to expand our programme in the near future.

Volunteers are key to this programme and we would love for you to join our London Wayfarers Flyerz team. We are looking for volunteers as coaches, first aiders, carers, fundraisers and anyone handy with their hands. Also any of our junior members looking for their DofE or Sports Leader volunteering are very welcome! We are providing workshops to support you and in return would really appreciate your support in making Flyerz Hockey at London Wayfarers Hockey Club a success. Please email [email protected] if you would like to volunteer.

London Wayfarers Flyerz is purely funded by generous donations and through partners. No donation is too little, all contributions make a massive difference. If you are looking to make a one-off or recurring donation please email [email protected]. We really appreciate every penny!

If you are looking to sponsor or partner with London Wayfarers Flyerz please email [email protected] to find out more.

We also plan to run fundraising events throughout the year which will be advertised in this space so please keep an eye out.
