London Wayfarers Hockey Club takes the welfare of our members, and all those involved in the club, very seriously. Safeguarding our members from harm is one of our top priorities.
Welfare officers
We have two appointed Welfare Officers; Penny Stubbs and Jo Dittrich. Penny sits on our Executive Committee as Club Welfare Officer to ensure player welfare is at the forefront of our operational planning. Jo Dittrich is mainly responsible for welfare and safeguarding in the Junior section. If you have any concerns regarding player welfare or safeguarding, or would you wish to file a complaint, please contact Penny or Jo via email.
CLubmark
London Wayfarers is a Clubmark accredited club. An accredited Club is recognised as a safe, rewarding and fulfilling place for participants of all ages as well as helping parents and carers know that they’re choosing the right Club for their young people.
First aid
Although hockey is a relatively safe sport, first aid pitch-side can still make a huge difference in the treatment of sustained injuries. To support our safety first efforts we provide several First Aid courses, free of charge, throughout the season. It is mandatory for all junior training sessions and matches to have a first aider present.
First Aid kits are supplied by London Wayfarers Hockey Club to team captains and/or team managers. It is their responsibility to keep the kits fully stocked. Any required supplements throughout the season will be provided for by London Wayfarers Hockey Club when requested.
