Goalkeepers hold a special place in the heart for everyone involved at the club.
As OBO says, “Goalkeepers are amazing people” and we certainly agree. This why we are always looking for ways to maximise the abilities of goalies at any age, experience and ability.
In the 2018-19 season we will expanding our Goalkeeper Academy programme once again to build on the recent successes and growth in GK numbers.
Junior Goalkeeper Academy
London Wayfarers Hockey Club offers high-quality junior goalkeeper training for boys and girls, for all abilities from beginner level upwards.
The Goalkeeper Academy aims to grow the game of hockey and develop the qualities of goalies through a dynamic, current and balanced program. Goalkeepers will progress through the program starting with a solid conceptual and skills foundation and continue to advanced positions and techniques. Game management and situational hockey knowledge are also major aspects of the curriculum.
We provide almost 5 hours of dedicated goalkeeper training per week and are proud to offer:
1. Video analysis
2. Personalised feedback
3. Individual/group coaching
4. Quality kit available for youngsters to use
By undertaking this we hope to be at the forefront of goalkeeper excellence, quality and enjoyment. In addition, academy members will have the opportunity to play regular club matches (if selected) for their age group teams within the Surrey County league.
Training Venues and Times 2018-19
The hockey season runs from September until just before Easter, and we usually don’t train on half-term weeks and have a break for Christmas and New Year.

Senior Goalkeeper academy
The senior goalkeepers have their own goalkeeper training sessions with specialised coaches on top of their regular team training sessions. As with the junior goalkeepers we will be providing:
1. Video analysis
2. Personalised feedback
3. Individual/group coaching
4. Quality kit available for those who do not have their own kit
Sessions led by Kaye Goulding will take place monthly on from September onwards, the exact dates listed on the events page.
